Known as “the gem of the San Juan Islands”, Orcas Island is often considered the most beautiful island in the San Juans. It is the largest island and is located approximately three hours from Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle, giving you the perfect mix of big city refinement with the peace of pastoral living.

We are located within minutes of the largest state park in the archipelago, Moran State Park, boasts 5,252 acres of hiking, horseback riding, trail bike-riding and bird-watching. Challenge yourself with over 30 miles of hiking trails, from short family-friendly loops to rugged hikes. You may even want to hike to the top of Mt. Constitution, the highest point in the San Juan Islands, where you can take in the sweeping 360 degree views.

Sea Kayaking is an island favorite with many organizations providing tours that provide you with a close-up glimpse of the natural wildlife that populate the channels around our islands. You can also take tours to several islands that are within miles of Orcas. For guided kayak tours, try Shearwater Adventures, Body Boat Blade International, Osprey Tours, Orcas Outdoors Sea Kayak Tours.
Whale Watching is one of the most unique experiences you can have when visiting the San Juan Islands. Three pods of Orca whales make their home in the surrounding waters in the Summer, with one pod staying year-round. You may want to contact Deer Harbor Charters, Orcas Island Eclipse Charters or for a more new-age experience try Whale Spirit Adventures.
Jacques Cousteau once said one of his all-time favorite places to go diving was the San Juan Islands. If you’d like to try diving while you’re here try Island Dive and Water Sports, a full-service dive operation.
Known locally as the best Golf course in the San Juan Islands, try the Orcas Island Country Golf Club
The club features a nine-hole public course with a par 36 rating. The course challenges with gently rolling hills and water hazards, all in a pastoral setting.
If you’d like to add Horseback Riding to your list of farm activities, you can contact Walking Horse Country Farm. This group leads trail rides on Tennessee walking horses. Also try Once in a Blue Moon Farm on Eastman Road, 2 miles from the ferry landing. They have a little petting zoo w/goats, llamas, turkeys, ducks, ornamental chickens.
